BIT Mesra

Birla Institute of Technology Mesra

Technical AI Site for the multicentric AI-based anemia detection and analysis study in pregnant women.

Site Overview

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra serves as the technical AI site for the DeepScience anemia research project. BIT Mesra was established in 1955 and is one of India’s leading technical institutions, with a strong academic and research foundation in engineering, science, and technology.

Within this project, the BIT Mesra CSE team contributes to data preprocessing, clinical image analysis, peripheral smear image processing, numeric laboratory data modeling, multimodal deep learning, model evaluation, explainable AI, website support, and digital deployment planning. The technical team works closely with clinical, pathology, and public health collaborators to develop AI models that are technically robust, interpretable, and clinically meaningful.

The role of BIT Mesra is to translate approved clinical images, microscopic smear images, and numeric laboratory data into validated deep learning-based prediction models for anemia detection, severity assessment, and anemia classification in pregnant women. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering provides the technical environment and expertise required for AI model development, experimentation, validation, and future digital health implementation.
